Player Conduct & Expectations

        PLAYER CONDUCT                                                             NGS Basketball 09/2022

1. I will show respect to all coaches, game officials, parents, teammates and opposing players at all times, and will never act in a manner that is disrespectful to them or my team.

2. I will demonstrate good sportsmanship regardless of the score or situation by acting in a positive manner towards coaches, officials and other players.

3. I will help to clean the gymnasium/bench area at both home and away games and after all practices.

4. I will display good sportsmanship, and a commitment to my team, at all times.

5. I will thank the other team and officials positively after ALL games, as Covid Protocol allows.

PLAYER EXPECTATIONS

1. ATTENDANCE AT PRACTICES AND GAMES IS VERY IMPORTANT!  Teams practice 3 to 4 times more than the time played during games. Practice HARD and contribute as much as you can to the game.

2. Arrive at practice on time and be ready to start at the designated time.

3. No talking when: 

(A) any coach is talking, or (B) any teammate is talking to the team or asking a question.

4. When a coach blows the whistle, stop what you are doing and listen.

5. Being disruptive or disengaged during practice is disrespectful and unfair to your teammates and coaches.  If a player continues to act in such a manner, coaches will address the behavior with the player and their family.  Consequences for this type of behavior could include sitting out of practice and/or missing game time. 

6. MISSED PRACTICES/UNEXCUSED ABSENCES: If missing practices becomes an issue, playing time will be impacted per the decision of the coach.

7. EXCUSED ABSENCES: Academics, illness, a family emergency, or a school function will be considered an excused absence, if communicated within a reasonable time (at least 1 or 2 hours) prior to the practice or game, to the coach via their approved method of communication.

8. GAMES: Arrive at games and be ready (shoes and uniform on) to warm up at the time designated by your coach.  Always bring complete uniforms and a Covid-mask to each game.
